Osmoflo enganged to increase the supply of high quality potable water to remote Queensland Island

Osmoflo's plant will allow the client to produce high quality drinking water from an alternative source for the 5000+ guests and staff on the Island

  • Client

    Hamilton Island Enterprises (HIE)

  • Technology

    Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) /

    Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO)

  • Location

    Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia

  • Commissioned

    November 2019

  • Project Scale

    2,600 m3/day

Challenge Our client, Hamilton Island Enterprises (HIE) found that expanding their useable capacity was becoming increasingly important as they are more reliant in the Brackish Water reservoirs, which receive run-off from non porous surfaces that then suffer from seawater intrusion and high evaporation rates whilst stored in holding dams.

Solution  Osmoflo’s solution was to deliver a 1MLD SWRO skid, cleaning filter and control systems, plus a containerised 1.6MLD BWRO that will provide the client with the ability to produce high quality potable water from an alternative source. HIE provides all utilities and services for the 5000+ guests and staff on the Island, including water supply.

Result The project is the result of more than 5 years of “optioneering” and technical/commercial investigation to ensure the most appropriate solution was selected and the best overall value for the client.

Client & Osmoflo: Our client is looking forward to an energy efficient and high performance facility providing a noticeable improvement in potable water aesthetics for our guests, residents and staff as we, at Osmoflo, are looking forward to continuing our long association as their “Technology Partner” for desalination requirements on the Island.
